Backup Coverage
What Stashback backs up
Coverage depends on your plan. Here's exactly what's included at each tier, whether it can be restored, and any limitations worth knowing.

| Products |
✓ |
Variants, images, media, metafields, and SEO. Images are downloaded into the backup so they're preserved even if the original is later deleted. |
| Collections |
✓ |
Smart (rule-based) and manual collections, including product membership. Publication channels (e.g. Online Store) are matched by name on restore. |
| Pages |
✓ |
Full HTML content, SEO title and description, template suffix. |
| Blogs & articles |
✓ |
Blog structure and all articles, including author, tags, featured image, and metafields. Article images are downloaded into the backup. |
| Navigation |
✓ |
Up to 3 levels of menu items. Items are restored as generic links — resource-typed items (e.g. direct product or collection links) will need re-linking after restore. |
| Policies |
✓ |
All shop policies (refund, privacy, shipping, etc.). |
| Redirects |
✓ |
All URL redirects. Complete coverage. |
| Customers |
✓ |
Profile, addresses, tags, metafields, and marketing consent. Addresses are only written for customers being created (not updated). Customers must reset their password on first login — passwords are never exposed by Shopify's API. |
| Orders |
Read-only |
Order data is captured for reference and export. Shopify does not allow historical orders to be re-created via its API, so orders cannot be restored into your store. |

| Metaobjects |
✓ |
Both definitions (types, fields, validations) and all entries. Complete coverage. |
| Discounts |
✓ |
Percentage, fixed amount, buy X get Y, and free shipping discounts. Product and customer targeting is not restored — discounts apply store-wide after restore. Expired discounts are skipped. Discounts managed by apps (Discount Functions) are backed up but cannot be restored. |
| Themes |
✓ |
All theme files — Liquid templates, JSON settings, CSS, JS, and image assets. Restored as a new unpublished theme so your live storefront is never overwritten. |
| Draft orders |
✓ |
Open draft orders including line items, discounts, customer details, and shipping. Drafts that have already been completed (converted to orders) are skipped on restore. |

Notes |
| Files & media |
✓ |
All files in your Shopify Files library — images, documents, and videos. Videos are restored by re-importing from the original source URL; if that URL is no longer accessible the video cannot be restored. |
| Shipping profiles |
✓ |
Zones, countries, and flat-rate shipping methods. Carrier-calculated rates are not included. Product-to-profile assignments are not captured. |
| Locations |
✓ |
Location name, address, and active status. Locations are matched by name on restore. Deactivation is not applied during restore to avoid leaving a store with no active location. |
| Inventory levels |
✓ |
Available stock quantity per variant per location. Only "available" quantity is restored — committed and incoming stock counts are not. Variants are matched by product handle and option values. |
Not included
The following are not currently backed up by Stashback:
- Gift cards — gift card balances and expiry can be captured, but original codes are masked by Shopify and cannot be preserved.
- Third-party app data — data owned by other apps (reviews, loyalty points, subscriptions) is not accessible to Stashback.
- Shopify Payments & transactions — payment records and transaction history are read-only and cannot be exported or restored.
- Markets, catalogs, and B2B (Companies) — niche features; not yet covered.
- Shop settings — currency, timezone, and other store settings are readable but cannot be restored via Shopify's API.
API limitations: Some restore gaps above — such as orders and customer passwords — are hard limits imposed by Shopify's API, not Stashback limitations. They cannot be worked around. See the
restore limitations section of the Help page for the full list.
